Book: Metallogeny and geology of sediment-Hosted Zn-Pb deposits of Iran

Author: Abdorrahman Rajabi

Metallogeny is the study of the ore-forming process at a regional and global scale, emphasizing their relationship in space and time to geological events and tectonic features of the Earth's crust. Although the study of deposits individually provides us valuable information about the processes affecting the formation of ores, studying the metallogeny of deposits and these processes at a regional and continental scale will provide more comprehensive information on their formation, temporal pattern, and distribution. Metallogenic aspects of ore deposits reflect the complex interplay between the evolving global tectonic regime, overall changes in global heat flow, atmospheric and oceanic redox conditions, and episodic mantle plume events. Nonetheless, these temporal and spatial distributions are ultimately controlled by the secular character of Earth history in all these cases. This book is the first work in the field of metallogeny and geology of Sediment-Hosted zinc-lead (SH Zn-Pb) deposits of Iran, and its main purpose is to provide a better understanding of the ore-forming processes at regional scales which control their temporal and spatial distribution in relation to geodynamic changes in the continental crust. In this book, first, the basic concepts of metallogeny study of ore deposits, factors controlling the temporal and spatial distribution in the Earth's crust are discussed, and the types of SH Zn-Pb deposits, chemistry, and nature of ore-forming fluids are described. Subsequently, the types of these deposits in Iran are studied, and their metallogeny in relation to tectonic events of the Iranian continental crust has been evaluated.
