Due to the increasing demand for aquatic proteins and the constant level of fishing production, aquaculture has developed dramatically over the last decades in worldwide and Iran. This increased production is due to an increase in aquatic density per unit area, which, if the principles of health management are not met, it can have a deterrent role in the development of aquaculture industry. Observance of the principles of biosecurity in farms and the introduction of eyed eggs and ornamental fish can prevent serious problems of aquatic diseases in the country. To achieve these goals, educating people who have the expertise in aquatic animal health can help to strengthen the scientific capacity of research centers, and to resolve the problems of diseases on farms and, it will play an important role in the development of sustainable aquaculture and food security and the integrated management of aquatic diseases.

Therefore, the goals of this department are as follows:

Relations with research and academic centers of other countries in the field of joint research and exchange of professors and students

Training of specialists in the field of aquatic animal health

Skill training in the field of diagnosis, control and treatment of aquatic diseases by presenting courses in accordance with approved headlines in doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) and doctorate in aquatic animal health

Perform research and development related to aquatic health including immune stimulants, vaccines, herbal medicines and laboratory diagnostic kits

Providing services to government agencies (National Veterinary Organization, Fisheries, related research centers(

Hold short-term training courses and retraining for veterinarians and experts working in the aquaculture industry

Communicating with industry in the fields of aquaculture and aquatic animal health

Study and planning on the creation and implementation of interdisciplinary training courses

The course of aquatic animal health is 4 years, Which students will graduate after passing 60 theoretical and practical credits (main courses- 14 credits, optional Courses- 3 credits and thesis- 16 credits).

- Employment as a faculty member in universities and higher education institutions of the country

- Diagnosis, control and treatment of aquatic diseases (cold water and warm water fish, and crustaceans)

- Employment as a researcher in universities and higher education institutions of the country

- Providing diagnostic services to the public and private sectors

- Providing technical and regulatory management services to aquaculture and related industries

- Providing quality control services to processing centers for fisheries products
