Department of Avian Health and Diseases has four divisions: bacteriology; parasitology; virology; and ornamental, zoo, and wild birds.

Members are responsible   for testing of new vaccines and drugs as well as the testing of vaccines for poultry and also to provide consulting services for animal owners and veterinarians with regard to holding animals, animal welfare, and the prevention of all poultry diseases. Veterinarians can receive training to become specialists in poultry diseases (DVSc program).
The Post Graduate Certificate in Avian Health and Diseases (DVSc) can be achieved in the 2 year (44 units), followed by two years of research on the different aspects of avian and poultry diseases  using the latest technology besides of conventional methods in avian microbiology and serology, advanced poultry medicine, and disease management (16 units).

The DVSc post graduate students  are trained to  prevent the onset of disease or parasites in flocks and also recognize at an early stage the presence of disease or parasites and to treat all flocks that are diseased or infested with parasites as soon as possible. They are trained for playing a key role in other research centers or governmental offices all around the country.
