The Library of the Faculty of Theology and Islamic Studies, known as the Martyr Professor Morteza Motahhari Library, is one of the rich libraries of the University of Tehran. It was established simultaneously with the founding of the Faculty in 1934 and, over time, has developed into a relatively well-equipped library through the purchase and donation of new books. Currently, it holds more than 120,000 volumes in Persian, Arabic, and English, 85 journal titles, 1,239 undergraduate theses (old system), 2,993 master’s theses, and 747 doctoral dissertations. Valuable printed works (lithographic, letterpress, and large-format editions) are also among the holdings of this library.
At present, the library consists of three sections: the stacks, the faculty reading hall, and the reference and student reading hall, where theses and journals are also kept. The library classification system is based on the Library of Congress Classification, and the stacks are operated as open access for postgraduate students.
The library provides three computer stations for students to search books and other resources, as well as two computers for faculty members’ academic work.
In addition, the reading hall is equipped with 58 chairs and 26 study tables.
