Tasks and Objectives of the Associate Dean in Research and International Relations

School of Mining Engineering is a pioneer in research on different aspects of mining engineering. The School offers research in the fields of Mining and Petroleum Exploration, Mining Exploitation, Rock Mechanics, Mineral Processing, Mining and Environmental and Petroleum Geomechanics.

This school has a long history in exploration of metal and coal mines and their subsequent processing. With modern laboratories and well-known academic members, recent research focal points are:

 • Coal and mineral exploration

• Environmental studies including field investigations and modeling on pollution generation and transport of pollutants associated with coal and iron mines

• Mine hydrogeology and dewatering

• Geostatistical resource modeling and reservoir characterization

• Geothermal and hydro-geochemistry of hot springs

• Increasing recovery of mineral processing and coal washing plants

• Mineral processing (Comminution, Gravity, Flotation, Chemical Processes and Biotechnology)

• Open pit and underground mining

• Recycling of wastes (coal and metals)

 • Rock mechanics and geo-engineering

• Geomechanics Reservoir and Wellbore Stability Analysis

• Mineral and Oil Exploration
